Cookie Policy
This site stores very little in your browser, and only when you do something that needs it. There are no analytics and no advertising cookies.

I What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep, so that the site can recognise the same browser on the next page or the next visit. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, a site may use cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you ask for without your consent; any other cookie needs your consent first.
We set a cookie only when you take a step that needs it: adding a course to your basket, asking us to remember your checkout details, or sending a chat message. Simply reading the site sets no cookie at all.
II The cookies we use
| Name | What it does | When it is set | How long | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID |
Holds your basket while you shop and, if a checkout attempt needs a correction, the details you typed so you do not have to enter them twice. | When you add something to your basket | Until you close your browser | Strictly necessary |
buyer |
Remembers the details you entered at checkout (name, email address, company, VAT number, address and country) so the form is filled in next time. It is kept in your browser only and cannot be read by scripts on the page. | Only if you tick “Remember these details on this device” at checkout | 180 days, or until you delete it at /forget-me | Functional, with your consent |
supchat_v |
A random code that links your browser to your chat conversation, so you can see our replies. It contains nothing about you. | When you send your first chat message | 365 days | Strictly necessary |
The conversation itself is stored on our server, not in your browser, and is deleted 365 days after its last message. The chat does not use local storage or session storage, and nor does any other part of the site.
Our staff use one further cookie, supchat_k, to sign in to the pages where they answer the chat. It is never set for visitors to the shop.
III What we do not use
We do not use analytics or statistics cookies, advertising or retargeting cookies, social media plug-ins, or any cookie that tracks you across other websites. Because every cookie we set is either strictly necessary or set only when you tick the “remember” box, the site does not show a cookie banner.
IV Content loaded from other services
To keep the site quick, some pieces are loaded from content delivery networks:
- fonts (the typefaces used for headings and text) from a web fonts service;
- payment card and wallet icons from a public open-source file network;
- photographs, including the portrait shown in the chat window, from the online photo library that hosts them.
These services do not set cookies through our site. To deliver a file, though, every such service necessarily receives your IP address and basic browser information, as with any request on the internet. The payment icons are requested without telling the service which of our pages you were on.
The payment page
When you continue to payment you leave this site for the secure payment page of our payment services provider. That page sets its own cookies, which it needs to process the payment and prevent fraud. They are described in the provider’s own cookie notice, linked from the payment page.
V How to control or delete cookies
- To delete the details remembered at checkout, use Forget my details, or untick the “remember” box on your next order.
- The basket cookie disappears when you close your browser.
- You can delete any cookie, or block cookies from this site, in your browser’s settings. If you block the basket cookie, the basket and checkout will not work.
