About Sail to Success
Courses for the people who run small companies.
We make recorded, self-study business courses for owners who do the work and run the business as well. This page says why, for whom, how the courses are made, and what we will not do.
I · Why the name
A small business is steered, not just rowed.
Rowing is effort: more hours, harder pulls, the same water. Most owners are already rowing as hard as they can. Steering is the other half of the job: reading the conditions, choosing a heading and checking the chart often enough to notice when you have drifted.
That is what the logo draws. The boat is under sail, so the wind does part of the work. The sun behind it is the fixed point you steer by, whatever the water is doing. The courses are about the steering.
Set a heading. Check it monthly. Adjust.
II · Who the courses are for
Owners who do the work and run the business.
Owners of small companies in the UK: the joiner with a workshop and two apprentices, the consultant who has just taken on a first employee, the café with a second site in mind. You are good at the work. The business side arrived on top of it.
- There is no finance department, HR team or operations manager. There is you.
- You study in the gaps: an evening, an early morning, a quiet Saturday hour.
- You want something you can use on Monday, not a theory of management.
III · How the courses are made
Recorded, plain, and worked on paper.
There are seven courses and one programme that brings four of them together, plus ten standalone modules. Across the courses that is 51 modules and about 56.8 hours of recorded lessons.

Plain English
Terms are explained the first time they appear. If a word would need a glossary, we use a different word.

One worksheet per module
Each module ends with a worksheet you fill in with your own figures, so what you finish with is about your company, not the example.

UK context
Companies House filings, HMRC records, VAT registration and its thresholds, all explained in general terms. It is education, not advice about your own position; for that, talk to your accountant or solicitor.
IV · What we will not do
Three things you will not find here.
- No live coaching
- The courses are recorded and self-study, and we say so plainly. There are no calls, no mentor and no marking. Questions about the material are answered by email and chat.
- No pressure sales
- No countdown timers, no “last few places”, no sales calls to upgrade you. The price on the page is the price.
- No subscription traps
- You pay once for what you choose. Nothing renews by itself, and there is nothing to remember to cancel.
